Linklaters has advised an international bank syndicate comprising Barclays, J.P. Morgan, Morgan Stanley, Raiffeisen Bank International and UniCredit on the successful placement of a €500 million Tier 2 bond issued by the Austrian UNIQA Insurance Group AG. Tier 2 bonds are subordinated debt instruments that insurers use to strengthen their regulatory capital base.

The bond has a maturity of 20 years, is first callable after 9.5 years, and carries a fixed coupon of 4.5% for the first ten years.

In parallel to the new issuance, Linklaters also advised the bank syndicate in connection with a public tender offer for an outstanding Tier 2 bond of UNIQA.

The Linklaters team was led by capital marktes partners Alexander Schlee and Martin Rojahn and included associates Tabea Meißner and Tim Westenberger.
