Overview
Julian specializes in banking and insurance supervisory law, securities trading and investment law. He has a special focus on advising banks and investment firms (i.a.) on licensing requirements, conduct of business rules, capital requirements and governance, cross-border M&A transactions and reorganizations of groups in the banking sector, in particular in relation to France. Julian also specializes in anti-money laundering law, sustainable finance and reporting matters and is a member of the Linklaters ESG Working Group.

His recent experience includes:
- Crédit Mutuel Alliance Fédérale / TARGO Deutschland Financial Holding Group: advising on the acquisition of Oldenburgische Landesbank (OLB)
- Advent International, Centerbridge and their co-investors: advising on the regulatory process in connection with the voluntary takeover offer to acquire S-Dax listed Aareal Bank AG
- A leading international investment bank: advising in connection with the planned restructuring of the European group (including license extension and merger of two regulated group companies)
- A leading international investment bank: advice on and implementation of the licensing procedure as a so-called Class 1 investment firm with BaFin and ECB
- Four of the world's leading international investment banks: advising on their strategic considerations in connection with Brexit, in particular on the issue of licensing requirements/EU passporting, corporate governance and risk management as well as compliance and anti-money laundering obligations. Ongoing advice to these banks on these issues, in particular on licensing requirements and the WpHG
- An international banking group: advising on the transfer of its German business to its French EU hub
- Various banks and broker-dealers: Advising on strategic considerations in the context of recent regulatory change projects (including i.a. CRD VI, the ban of “Payment For Order Flow” and Transition Planning)
