Overview
Tobias is a counsel in Linklaters’ Düsseldorf Antitrust & Foreign Investment Group. He has extensive experience in foreign investment control and EU foreign subsidies and represented clients in merger control proceedings before the European Commission and the German Federal Cartel Office (Bundeskartellamt) as well as in foreign investment control proceedings before the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action.
Given his work on several global matters, Tobias is very familiar with key authorities, including in particular the German Federal Cartel Office and the European Commission.
Tobias represents clients across a wide range of key industries, including chemistry, energy, technology, life science, digital economy, industrials, healthcare, mobility and retail.
Before joining Linklaters, Tobias worked several years for another leading law firm in Cologne and Brussels.
Work highlights
Tobias’s recent experience includes:
- Triton: advising on (i) the sale of EQOS, a leading specialist in the installation and maintenance of critical infrastructure in Europe, to Eiffage Énergie Systèmes ("Eiffage"), and (ii) the acquisition of Caverion, including advising on outbidding a competing public takeover offer that has already been approved under EU law.
- Covestro: advising, inter alia, (i) on the public takeover offer by Abu Dhabi owned ADNOC and (ii) the €1.6bn acquisition of the Resins & Functional Materials business from Royal DSM.
- Hamburger Hafen und Logistik: advising on the joint takeover offer by Mediterranean Shipping Company S.A. (MSC) and the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg.
- QIAGEN: advising on its proposed merger with Thermo Fisher Scientific.
- McKesson: advising on the formation of a joint venture with Walgreens Boots Alliance.
- Alstom: advising on its proposed merger with Siemens Mobility (with previous employer).
