Overview

Alex is part of the firm’s financial sponsors practice and is based in London. He advises private equity houses and other financial sponsors on public and private M&A, joint ventures and portfolio company matters, with a focus on sponsor backed P2Ps. He has experience across several asset classes, including infrastructure, green energy and real estate.

Alex regularly works on complex cross-border transactions and has spent time on secondment in the Singapore office.

Work highlights
  • TDR Capital LLP on various matters including the £1.9bn recommended cash acquisition of BCA Marketplace plc and the $5bn sale of Modulaire to Brookfield Business Partners and Constellation Automotive, a TDR portfolio company, on its £325m recommended cash acquisition of Marshall Motor Holdings plc;
  • GIC and Greystar on the acquisition of Student Roost, the UK’s third largest purpose-built student accommodation provider;
  • Remgro Limited on its recommended £3.7bn joint cash offer alongside SAS Shipping Agencies Services S.à r.l. for Mediclinic International plc;
  • Carlyle on its £950m cash offers for Vectura Group plc;
  • G4S plc on its recommended £3.8bn cash offer by Allied Universal and its defence against the hostile £3.68bn cash offer by Garda World Security Corporation; and
  • Nestlé S.A. on various matters including the CHF10bn disposal of its Skin Health unit to a consortium led by EQT, and in relation to Nestlé’s interests in Froneri and IVC Evidensia.

  • Draken International (a Blackstone portfolio company) on its acquisition of Cobham’s UK Aviation Services business;
  • I Squared Capital on its acquisition of a 45% stake in Rubis Terminal
  • Aldermore Group plc on its £1.1bn recommended cash acquisition by FirstRand Limited
  • National Grid plc on the carve-out and subsequent disposal of a majority stake in its £14bn UK gas distribution business to a consortium led by Macquarie

Alex holds a Law degree from the University of Cambridge.
