Lucia Stoican

Overview

Lucia has represented clients with complex Phase II merger control filings before the EU Commission, both as merging parties and third party intervenients. She has coordinated international deals that have entailed antitrust reviews in numerous jurisdictions requiring structural and/or behavioural remedies.

Other antitrust experience includes advising clients involved in EU Commission Article 101 and 102 investigations, as well as litigation before the EU courts.

• International Paper on the acquisition of its British rival DS Smith for USD 7.2 billion*

• Korean Airlines in its acquisition of Asiana Airlines in case COMP M.10149*
• Bombardier in the sale of its transportation business to Alstom S.A. in case COMP M.9779*
• Bombardier as an interested third party in phase I and II merger control proceedings in the successful opposition to the Siemens/Alstom case*
• A confidential client in the successful opposition of the Air Canada / Transat case COMP M.9489 (withdrawn)*
• PTTGC in its EUR 4 billion acquisition of Allnex Holding in case COMP M.9779*
• Omnova in its $824 million acquisition by Synthomer plc, a specialty chemical company, in case COMP M.950*
• Various clients in the design and implementation of worldwide antitrust and GDPR compliance programs, as well as anti-corruption investigations into potential FCPA violations*
• Confidential client active in the IT sector in an alleged abuse of dominance case in EU Commission investigation.*
