Overview

Fiona is a partner in the energy and infrastructure team who advises on a wide range of ground-breaking transactions in the energy, infrastructure and rail sectors. She has over 30 years’ experience acting on all aspects of energy and infrastructure transactions for governments, sponsors, borrowers and commercial banks, DFIs and Export Credit Agencies, including advising clients on energy transition.

Fiona was a member of Linklaters' management board for four years as Head of Clients and Sectors. Prior to that, she was a member of the firm's governance board for eight years. She was also one of the firm's Global Heads of Diversity for six years. 

Work Highlights

Fiona has been the lead partner on many transactions, including advising:

  • the purchasers of the Channel Tunnel Rail Link on its acquisition and on subsequent renegotiations of its most significant contracts (the acquisition was Europe Infrastructure Deal of the Year 2010, Project Finance International). Most recently she advised the shareholders on their exit. 
  • the lenders on the Nacala Corridor project, a US$4bn rail and port project in Malawi and Mozambique, the largest infrastructure project financing in Africa
  • ENI and it’s partners on the unitisation of its interests in the Rovuma basin, Mozambique    
  • L1 on the acquisition of RWEDEA AG 
  • Total on the acquisition of and shareholding arrangements for the Artic 2 LNG project

Professional experience

Fiona is recognised as a leading lawyer in Chambers UK for Rail as well as Oil & Gas and Power. She was awarded the Europe Women in Business Law Award 2011 as Best in Energy and Natural Resources by Euromoney.

Education and qualifications

Fiona holds a first class degree in law from University College, Cardiff, University of Wales and also passed the Law Society Qualifying Examinations with first class honours in 1987.
