Paul Grethe-Watanabe

Paul is an international project development and finance specialist based in Tokyo. He regularly represents sponsors, procuring authorities and lenders, including development finance institutions and export credit agencies, on all key aspects of transactions in the energy and infrastructure sectors. Much of his recent work involves new renewable and clean technologies.

Paul is based in Linklaters’ Tokyo office and has also worked in our London office. He completed a secondment to the Japanese export credit agency JBIC in 2022, and has also worked in the Sydney office of Linklaters’ alliance partner Allens, where he advised clients on their procurement and contracting strategies, construction and development of major infrastructure and energy projects.

Paul has a BA (Hons) in history and law from the University of Cambridge. 

Paul is qualified in England & Wales.
