Transactions of significance that can be disclosed have included advising:

  • Glencore on its €10.2bn acquisition, together with QIA, of a 19.5%. stake in Rosneft and subsequent disposal
  • BP on the US$1.6815bn sale of its 50% stake in Shanghai SECCO Petrochemical Company
  • Glencore on the acquisition of Chevron’s South African and Botswanan downstream assets
  • Halyk Bank on its US$660m acquisition of KazKommertzBank and an associated takeover offer and rights issue
  • Halyk Bank on the sale of a 60% stake in its subsidiary, Altyn Bank, to CITIC
  • Switzerland’s SIX Group on the CHF3billion disposal of SIX Payment Services to France’s Wordline
  • Charoen Pokphand Food PCL on the US$680m acquisition of a Russian integrated poultry business from Agro-Invest Brinky B.V.
  • KAZ Minerals Plc (formerly Kazakhmys Plc), a copper mining company with main assets located in Kazakhstan, on the US$240m transfer of certain mature assets in the Central Regions of Kazakhstan to Cuprum Holding
  • Halyk Bank, one of the leading commercial banks in Kazakhstan, on the acquisition of 100% of the share capital in HSBC’s Kazakhstan subsidiary
  • BP on many aspects of its joint venture investments in Russia, from Sidanco in the 1990s, through the establishment of TNK-BP in the early 2000s, to BP’s US$27bn sale of 50% in TNK-BP to Rosneft
  • Alliance Group on the SEK 8bn acquisition by way of amalgamation of Alliance Oil, an Swedish listed oil and gas company with operations in Russia and Kazakhstan
  • Rosneft, the major Russian oil and gas company, on the US$1.79bn acquisition from Enel of 40% stake in a Dutch joint venture company holding 49% participatory interest in SeverEnergia
