Education and qualifications


Janusz advises international and domestic corporates, investors and developers on major real estate transactions in Poland and in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE). The transactions on which he has advised include acquisitions (including portfolio transactions and sale and leasebacks), property development, lease agreements (including for build-to-suit projects), due diligence projects relating to property acquisitions and joint venture structures for real estate investments. He has particular knowledge of the logistics, commercial and office space sectors.

Janusz regularly collaborates with the firm’s Banking, Projects and Construction teams on the real estate aspects of transactions ensuring that clients experience a seamless transaction from initial due diligence through deal structuring, tax advice, and the drafting and negotiating of transaction documents to deal completion.

Janusz was seconded to the firm’s London real estate practice in 2007. He is currently a member of the firm’s CEE desk.

Work highlights

Janusz has led on many major real estate deals. Highlights include advising:

  • European Shopping Centre Fund II (managed by CBRE Global Investors) on the €203m acquisition of Sfera Shopping Centre in Bielsko-Biała, one of the largest shopping centres in Poland
  • CBRE Global Investors Pan European Core Fund on the acquisition of Hillwood Europe logistic portfolio of ca. 426,000 sqm GLA, comprising several logistic parks in Poland and Germany (both yielding and under development)
  • CBRE Global Investors (on behalf of one of the largest insurance groups in Europe) on their €92m acquisition of Jantar Shopping Centre in Słupsk
  • Allianz Real Estate Germany on the €412m acquisition of the Silesia City Centre in Katowice, reported as the largest property deal in the CEE in 2013
  • W. P. Carey, a real estate investment trust, on the acquisitions of Multimedialny Dom Plusa, an office building in Warsaw's Mokotów district and the headquarters of the Polish telecommunications giant Polkomtel and of Lipowy Office Park, an office building headquartering Pekao Bank (UniCredit)

Education and qualifications

Janusz studied law at the European School of Law and Administration, Warsaw and attended post graduate studies on corporate law at Warsaw University.

He speaks Polish, English and French.
