Experience

Currently based in London, Paul is the Global Co-head of the Consumer sector. Over the years, he has advised a number of global companies on market entry transactions in emerging economies such as China, India and a number of African markets, as well as on broadening the reach of their consumer brands through supply, distribution and franchising arrangements. Examples of these transactions include advising Diageo on its acquisition of Shui Jin Feng and on the establishment of a strategic joint venture in Japan with Kirin Brewery Co. Paul has also spent two years at Linklaters Shanghai office, having subsequently spent three years at the firm’s Tokyo office as Joint-managing partner and head of M&A.

Experience of other high profile cross-border M&A transactions that Paul has advised on in other sectors includes advising Industry Funds Management on its investment in Stansted Airport; advising the Board of EADS on the proposed merger with BAE Systems; advising Olympus Capital and other sellers on the sale of Mediatti Communications. to Jupiter Telecommunications. advising on the sale of Lehman Brothers' Asian business to Nomura; advising Citi on its acquisition of interests in Guangdong Development Bank; advising Suez on the ground-breaking sale and simultaneous accelerated IPO of Northumbrian Water; and advising Anglo American on its reorganisation and listing on London, on its acquisition and subsequent disposal of interests in Konkola Copper Mines and on the take-private of De Beers.
