Trustee Agenda Spring 2026

Welcome to our Spring Edition of Trustee Agenda.

With 2026 well underway, developments in the pensions world continue to keep us all on our toes. Our latest edition of Trustee Agenda explores three topics for pension scheme trustees to focus on this quarter.

First, we provide an update on the draft legislation designed to address the issues arising from the Virgin Media case. This offers affected schemes a route to obtain actuarial confirmation retrospectively for historic benefit changes and the Financial Reporting Council has now published technical actuarial guidance to assist scheme actuaries in considering whether to provide a confirmation.

Second, we take a look at the themes covered in the Government’s recent consultation on improving the standards of pension scheme trusteeship, governance and administration. With the Pension Schemes Bill heralding significant changes to the UK pensions landscape in the near future, the Government is looking for evolution in trusteeship, governance and administration too.

Finally, we explore some of the practical steps trustees can take to assess and manage cyber risk, as well as what to do in the event of a cyber security incident.
