Linklaters advises Apollo Infrastructure on its 50-50 Joint Venture with Ørsted in the World’s Largest Offshore Wind Farm Project

Linklaters has advised Apollo-managed funds on their agreement to invest in a 50% stake in Ørsted’s Hornsea 3, the world’s largest offshore wind project. Upon completion, the 2.9GW Hornsea 3 Offshore Wind Farm Project will generate enough low-cost, renewable electricity for more than 3 million UK households.

The Hornsea 3 transaction is subject to regulatory approvals and anticipated to close before year-end 2025. The Apollo-managed funds are expected to invest approximately $6.5 billion.

The transaction builds on the Linklaters team’s unrivalled track record of working with its clients to close the acquisition, development and financing of Offshore Wind Farm Projects around the world. It also marks the 40th UK Offshore Wind Farm Project upon which Linklaters has been fortunate enough to advise.

The Linklaters team was led by Energy & Infrastructure partners Richard Coar, Francesca Matthews and Subir Rajadhyaksha, Corporate Partners Michael Honan, Thomas Ford and Henrietta White and Tax Partner Alexei Franks together with Counsel David Leeming, Tom Chappatte and Managing Associates Niamh Sheerin, Sebastian Witte, Anna Saenko, Rohan Dhariwal, Jane Jin and Hope Levy-Shepherd.

Richard Coar commented:

“We are delighted to have been able to support Apollo on this landmark project. We wish Apollo and Orsted every success in delivering what is a highly significant transaction in the context of the UK’s transition towards a net zero economy and look forward to supporting Apollo in what continues to be a dynamic and growing energy transition market.”
