Linklaters Zhao Sheng advises UBS AG on the acquisition of full ownership of UBS Securities in China

Linklaters and its China joint operation partner Zhao Sheng Law Firm (Zhao Sheng) acted as joint legal advisors to UBS AG on its acquisition of full ownership of UBS Securities Co. Limited (UBS Securities). By acquiring the 33% equity interest in UBS Securities from Beijing State-owned Assets Management Co., Ltd, UBS AG has raised its equity interest in UBS Securities from 67% to 100%.

UBS Securities was the first foreign-invested, fully-licensed securities joint venture in China when it became operational in 2007. Linklaters acted as the legal advisor to UBS AG on the establishment of UBS Securities and, together with Zhao Sheng, advised UBS AG on its subsequent equity step-ups in UBS Securities.

The transaction was led by Linklaters’ corporate partner John Xu and Zhao Sheng’s corporate managing associate Hansen Ji, with support from antitrust & foreign investment partner Xi Liao and corporate associate Ying Hong from Zhao Sheng.
