Overview

John has worked on a wide range of private and public M&A transactions for financial sponsors and major corporates. He specialises in advising private equity portfolio companies on corporate or advisory matters throughout the life of an investment and management incentivisation plans.

John completed a secondment to AnaCap Financial Partners in 2018.

Work highlights

John has been a key adviser on the following transactions and matters:

  • Hg on several investment and recapitalisation rounds in the Access Group, a provider of business management software, including the latest Hg investment in 2022 valuing the business at £9.2 billion.
  • Hg on its initial investment in fundinfo and subsequent merger with Financial Express to form FE fundinfo, together with subsequent bolt-ons and ongoing corporate and MIP advisory work for FE fundinfo.
  • Brookfield infrastructure on its £4bn recommended cash offer for HomeServe plc.
  • Carlyle on several funding rounds in PIB Group, a group of insurance brokers, together with subsequent bolt-on M&A, management of the portfolio company and MIP throughout the investment, and the exit to Apax.
  • Hg on its acquisition and exit of A-Plan Group, an insurance broker, including MIP and portfolio advisory matters throughout the investment.
  • Advent International on its £4bn recommended cash offer for Cobham.

  • BC Partners on its investment in Davies Group, a provider of insurance consulting and technology services alongside HGGC and AIMCo.
  • Arqiva on the £2bn sale of its telecoms business to Cellnex.
  • Carlyle on its recommended offer for Harwood Wealth Management Group plc.
  • GIC on its investment in Sani/Ikos Group, an operator of luxury resorts in Europe.
