Experience
Specialist in commercial litigation and arbitration, with a particular focus on China-related, cross-border commercial disputes. Justin has extensive experience advising on shareholder and joint venture disputes; has acted in proceedings involving injunctive and interim measures; and regularly advises clients on regulatory investigations by authorities such as the Securities and Futures Commission, the Monetary Authority and the Independent Commission against Corruption.
His recent experience includes representing:
- successfully representing a resource trading multinational for a US$100m award in London-seated ICC arbitration arising from trading in Thailand and Cambodia, including conducting a successful application for urgent asset-freezing orders before the Hong Kong courts;
- a Big 4 accounting firm in parallel proceedings in Hong Kong and China arising in connection with the administration of the estate of a high net worth individual;
- a Hong Kong-listed bank in a high-profile shareholder dispute with a US hedge fund and related court proceedings in Hong Kong; and
- a Big 4 accounting firm in Hong Kong court proceedings initiated by the Securities and Futures Commission for cross-border production of audit working papers.
