Overview

Kevin is an Associate (“Avocat”) in the Belgian Litigation, Arbitration & Investigations practice.

He has extensive experience in attachment proceedings, including the challenge of penalty payments ("astreinte/dwangsom"), the freezing of bank accounts of debtors who refuse to pay, and the attachment of movable property. He also specialises in litigation in various areas of civil and commercial law (including contractual and extra-contractual disputes), as well as arbitration proceedings (including post-M&A disputes).

He frequently publishes on various topics, including investment arbitration, lobbying and the new Belgian Civil Code. He is also a teaching assistant of Civil law and Legal Methodology at the Law Faculty of the University of Brussels (ULB).

Kevin is admitted to represent clients before the Belgian Courts and the New York State Courts.

Work Highlights

Kevin has acted in a wide range of commercial disputes. Those that can be disclosed include:

  • assisting a client in avoiding a multi-million penalty payment ("astreinte/dwangsom") for alleged non-compliance with a court order
  • assisting a client in obtaining release from attachment of its movable assets
  • assisting a client in freezing the bank accounts of a debtor who refused to pay
  • assisting a client in pre-contractual liability proceedings for failure to commit to a major industrial project
  • assisting a client in money laundering proceedings initiated by the Federal Public Prosecutor's Office and in the subsequent civil proceedings

Education and qualifications

Kevin was admitted to the Brussels Bar in 2019 and to the New York State Bar in 2024. 

He holds a Bachelor of Laws (2017) and a Bachelor of Economics (2017) from UCLouvain (Saint Louis Bruxelles). A firm believer in the complementarity of law and economics, he continued his studies with a Master of Laws (summa cum laude, 2019) from Université Libre de Bruxelles and a Master of Science in Business Administration (magna cum laude, 2019) from KULeuven.

In 2023, Kevin furthered his legal knowledge with a Master of Laws (LL.M.) from New York University (NYU Dean’s Award, NYU Alumni Award, Brussels Bar Award and Belgian American Educational Foundation Award).

Kevin is fluent in French, English, Dutch and Albanian.
