Linklaters advises Transmission Capital Partners on the successful acquisition of its sixth UK offshore transmission project

Linklaters advised a consortium of Transmission Investment LLP, Amber Infrastructure and International Public Partnerships (together, Transmission Capital Partners) in relation to the acquisition and financing by the European Investment Bank and Aviva Annuity UK Limited of the offshore transmission assets connecting the 356MW Westermost Rough wind farm to the onshore distribution network.

The £155 million transmission link is the sixth offshore transmission project that Transmission Capital Partners has closed under Ofgem's tenders for the long-term licence and operation of offshore transmission assets in the United Kingdom. Linklaters has previously advised the same consortium on its successful acquisition of the offshore transmission assets for the Robin Rigg, Gunfleet Sands, Barrow, Ormonde and Lincs wind farms.

Richard Coar, Projects partner at Linklaters, said: “Transmission Capital Partners’ acquisition represents a key milestone for the Offshore Transmission sector being the first to complete under Ofgem’s enduring regulatory regime. This continues Transmission Capital Partners’ run of ‘firsts’ in this sector, having also successfully financed the first three Offshore Transmission projects under the previous transitional regime. We look forward to continuing to work closely with Transmission Capital Partners and supporting them as they continue their investment in European transmission assets.”

The Linklaters team was led by Projects partner Richard Coar and managing associate Matthew Daffurn supported by associates Ruth Hanson and Kerry Low.
