Breaking news: UK Government confirms it will ratify the UPC Agreement

On 28 November, during a meeting of EU’s Competitiveness Council (28-29 November) and in a press release published the same day, the UK Government confirmed it is proceeding with preparations to ratify the UPC Agreement and indicated that it will be working with the Preparatory Committee to bring the UPC into operation as soon as possible. The UK Government however added that this decision “should not be seen as pre-empting the UK’s objectives or position in the forthcoming negotiations with the EU”. The Preparatory Committee welcomed this news and announced that a revised roadmap will be published soon.
