Partners Jelita Pandjaitan and Justin Tang participate in the 7th Asia Pro Bono Conference 2018

The Asia Pro Bono Conference (APBC) was held in Hong Kong for the first time, from 25 to 27 October this year. Founded in 2012, the conference celebrates pro bono legal work, sharing pro bono initiatives and projects that strengthen access to justice for vulnerable people in Asia, and internationally.

Linklaters Hong Kong partner Justin Tang was invited to join the opening ceremony, introducing keynote speaker, The Honourable Teresa Cheng, Secretary of Justice for Hong Kong, and our Singapore partner Jelita Pandjaitan joined a panel session to discuss the specific pro bono collaborations that are being utilised to end the legal and economic exploitation of migrant workers.

Linklaters’ Hong Kong office also hosted a networking reception with the International Drug Policy Consortium titled ‘Drugs, crime and punishment: women and the need for access to justice’, exploring the driving factors and potential role of lawyers in ensuring improved justice outcomes for women. Those in attendance noted that Linklaters is an international law firm that is leading the way in this space.
