Linklaters Asia offices celebrate International Women’s Day

International Women’s Day (IWD) promotes unity, celebration, reflection, advocacy and action – whatever that looks like globally, at a local level. On 8 March, to mark IWD 2019 and its theme ‘Balance for Better’, Linklaters Asia offices collaborated with our clients to show support for the empowerment of women and reinforce our commitment for a diverse and inclusive culture where everyone feels they belong.

Linklaters Hong Kong office collaborated with AlixPartners to organise a gender equality and career journeys event titled ‘a letter to my younger self’. Managing partner Nathalie Hobbs provided the introduction for this event which saw speakers with leadership experience across a diverse range of sectors, geographies and cultures, including Linklaters Global Head of Banking, Davide Mencacci, read their own letters to their younger selves aloud, to share their wisdom and learnings on gender equality and career ascension.

Joining the celebration, Linklaters Singapore office collaborated with Atom Global Consulting and Diageo to host an ‘Inclusion Walk’ with over 30 cross-sector organisations, including many of our clients, taking part. Led by experienced leaders and coaches, the walk aimed to foster a sense of inclusiveness as 120 mentors and mentees walked together to share experiences and engage in meaningful dialogue to achieve ‘better balance’ – reflecting the theme for this year’s IWD. The walk took place along the Marina Financial District Promenade and was followed by an interactive panel session featuring Linklaters Singapore managing partner Christopher Bradley and managing associate Jocelyn Chng, who shared their personal views on what ‘balance for better’ means to them.
