Experience

A partner in Linklaters’ capital markets practice. Widely recognised as a market leader in sophisticated derivatives products and structured finance, has considerable experience in over-the-counter derivatives, structured equity, structured credit, market access and fund-linked products across Asia. Counsel to the International Swaps and Derivatives Associations Inc. (ISDA) in the Asia Pacific since 1997.

Has been closely involved in the development of derivatives and structured finance in China since 1995. Advised a number of claimants in GITIC’s insolvency in 1998 including on the first two swap litigations in China. Worked closely with market participants and the regulators on a number of structural developments in China (including derivatives regulations and enforceability of close-out netting and collateral arrangement), NAFMII and SAC documentation as well as QFII and QDII products.

Advised on a number of Financial Market Infrastructures (FMIs) initiatives in Asia post crisis including setting up clearing houses for OTC derivatives (OTC Clear Hong Kong and Shanghai Clearing House), the launch of the innovative Shanghai-Hong Kong Stock Connect and various payment and settlement issues for Renminbi (RMB) and RMB products.
