Peter Williams focuses on securitizations and structured finance transactions, with an emphasis on collateralized loan obligations (CLOs). He has extensive experience advising arrangers, collateral managers and investors in connection with CLOs backed by portfolios of broadly syndicated loans and middle market loans, as well as structured lending facilities backed by portfolios of corporate loans.  He regularly advises clients on regulatory issues relating to the U.S. securities laws, the U.S. risk retention regulations, the Volcker Rule and other matters under the Dodd-Frank Act. Peter also has represented financial institution counterparties in connection with cash, hybrid and synthetic collateralized debt obligation transactions, derivatives, asset-repackaging programs and insurance-linked products.

Highlights of Peter's experience include:

  • Representing arrangers, collateral managers and investors in the structuring and placement of CLOs totaling approximately $40 billion since 2003
  • Representing the secondary market trading desk of a leading securities dealer in connection with the review and analysis of securitization trading positions for compliance with Volcker Rule requirements
  • Representing a leading derivatives dealer in connection with the review, analysis, and remediation of over 250 derivatives contracts with structured finance counterparties.

Education and qualifications

Peter holds a Juris Doctor from University of Pennsylvania and obtained his undergraduate degree from University of Michigan.
