UK Supreme Court holds “sex” in the Equality Act 2010 refers to biological and not certificated sex

The UK Supreme Court has handed down judgment in For Women Scotland Ltd v The Scottish Ministers [2025] UKSC 16, holding that the definition of “woman” under the Equality Act 2010 is limited to biological women and does not include women with a Gender Recognition Certificate.
