New possibilities for the Hong Kong legal market; still Linklaters at the head and the heart of them

The talk across Asian legal markets over the past few years has been about the continued strategic importance of mainland China, despite the difficulties caused by Covid-19, and the rise to regional prominence of Singapore. Hong Kong, the original pan-Asian aircraft carrier for many a global law firm, has been all but forgotten after its own geopolitical and pandemic-induced troubles since 2019.

As we see this month on the alumni website, such a view is at best short-sighted. Hong Kong partners Karen Lam and Terence Lau explain to us why the commercial and legal future there remains so bright and the areas in which Hong Kong is set to continue as one of the great global innovators.

  • Linklaters and Hong Kong – the gold standard that remains of global relevance
  • Karen also takes the time to talk about her career in London and Hong Kong which now spans some 20 years for December’s Management Profile – Karen Lam on life as a lawyer across two decades and two continents
