Overview

Alex is a Managing Associate in the Litigation, Arbitration & Investigations team in London.  Alex is an experienced commercial litigator and advises clients on a broad range of complex and high-value disputes, involving corporates, investment funds and financial institutions, often through a cross-border lens.

Work highlights

Alex’s recent experience includes:

  • Advising a major Asian conglomerate in respect of multiple concurrent appraisal proceedings brought by former shareholders, with recent successes including a challenge to the “Shareholder Privilege Rule” before the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council.
  • Advising a financial institution on expedited proceedings successfully to obtain a final anti-suit injunction to restrain proceedings brought in a foreign jurisdiction and valued in excess of US$ 400m.
  • Advising an investment fund on a variety of post-completion disputes arising out of a multi-billion-dollar international M&A transaction.
  • Advising a large corporate and its parent company as to litigation risk and potential claims, including in respect of public / private M&A transactions and joint ventures (including with a foreign government).
  • Advising the Joint Administrators of a Lehman Brothers entity on various matters relating to the winding down of its administration.
  • Advising the Joint Administrators of various Lehman Brothers entities on a cross-border dispute valued in excess of US$ 260m

Education and qualifications

Alex obtained a Bachelor of Arts (2:1) in Classics from Oxford University, before completing his GDL, LPC and MSC (Law, Business and Management) (all with distinction) at the University of Law.
